1. A person can sense by smell if there is enough oxygen in the air.
2. If there is not enough oxygen to breathe, there is not enough oxygen for a fire to occur.
3. Oxygen enriched atmospheres pose an increased risk of fire.
4. Normal oxygen in air is about 20.9% by volume.
5. Atmospheres containing less than 20.9% oxygen are considered oxygen deficient.
6. Inerting a container will remove any flammable vapors that are inside.
7. Oxygen can be consumed by burning resulting in an oxygen deficient atmosphere.
8. Atmospheres containing more than 23.5% oxygen are considered oxygen enriched.
9. At the height of exertion, a person might breathe as much as 8 liters of air each minute.
10. There are no physiological effects until oxygen drops below 14%.
11. Combustible gas indicators can give unreliable readings in oxygen deficient atmospheres.
12. Oxygen sensing cells are self-rejuvinating and never require replacement.
